Statement on the future of my campaign

Laura Benjamin Suspends Congressional Campaign for Wisconsin’s 3rd District

September 26, 2025

Eau Claire, WI — Today, Laura Benjamin announced the suspension of her campaign for Congress in Wisconsin’s 3rd District, citing the significant resources required to run a competitive race, while celebrating the progress her campaign has made in shaping the political conversation across the district.

“From the very beginning, this campaign has been about everyday working people and moving toward bold, progressive solutions,” Benjamin said. “I’m proud that we’ve inspired new conversations among Democrats in WI-03 about the fight for economic and social justice.”

Benjamin’s campaign helped generate direct action and mutual aid, including holding 3 town halls, building coalition to support immigrant families, and working alongside Larry Littlegeorge of the Ho-Chunk Nation to advance the Federation of Sovereign Nations of Wisconsin, a new effort to ensure Indigenous communities their rights.

While suspending the campaign was not an easy decision, Benjamin acknowledged the reality of modern campaigning:

“Running a congressional campaign across a district as large as WI-03 takes significant financial resources. Despite the incredible support we’ve received, the path to victory simply isn’t there without the level of fundraising required to reach voters. Rather than run a campaign without a viable path forward, I’ve made the difficult decision to suspend efforts at this time.”

Benjamin emphasized that this decision marks a transition, not an ending:

“The fight for Medicare for All, living wages, and guaranteed human rights does not stop here. I’m committed to being part of that effort moving forward, whether through grassroots advocacy, coalition work, or whatever comes next.”

Benjamin expressed deep gratitude to her supporters:

To every volunteer, staffer, donor, and supporter who believed in this campaign: thank you. Together, we showed that ordinary people are excited for extraordinary progress. While this campaign is ending, the greater movement for justice and equality is only just beginning.”
